Oct 14, 1994: Plan to establish Soka Education Research Institute is announced by the founder.
The future plan of the newly-established academic and educational facilities is examined, and a plan for establishment of Soka Education Research Institute is also provided. Preparation of establishment under the "Soka Education Research Institute (which was renamed "Soka Education Research Center" later)" plan is launched. This plan is aimed at the realization of "the founder spirits" of Soka University, the research on theory of education by Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, the father of Soka education, and the proposal from the perspective of humanism and human rights.
May 15, 1996: "Soka Education reference room / Committee on data collection" is launched.
This committee is renamed "Committee on data collection of Soka Education" later on, and the following three topics regarding collection and preservation of all kinds of data were discussed:

November 16, 2000: "Soka Education Research Center"(an institution attached to university) is established as a memorial project marking the 30th anniversary of the foundation.
April 2, 2006: "Soka Education Research Institute" is established.
